Located in the Exhibition Arena on January 17th and 18th, the exhibit celebrated the Institute's Platinum Jubilee by showcasing how advanced technology can be used to design more inclusive and empathetic urban environments for the elderly.

Engagement: The exhibit was a significant success, drawing over 940 visitors who interacted with the various technological demonstrations. The exhibit was installed in collaboration with

  • Hexagon team for LiDAR demonstrations comprising of Mr. Vijay Chandel, Mr. Subir Moulick and Mr. Chandan Mandal.
  • Benchmark Systems team for demonstration of AR VR and Haptic suit comprising of Mr. Debapriyo Sarkar and Subhankar Pal.
  • Kabootar Design Studio for integration of architecture into AR/VR by Ms. Sudipta Roy.
Purpose: To demonstrate the application of Digital Twin technology in creating safer, more accessible architectural spaces for geriatric users.
Team:
  • The exhibit was led by Payal Chakravarty, M. Plan, Architecture and Regional Planning.
  • Coordinated by Ranjinee Mallick and Geetanjali Basumataray from CoE-UPD

Display Highlights:
  • Geriatric Suit: A wearable simulation tool to help designers experience the physical limitations of aging.
  • Haptic Suit: Advanced gear providing tactile feedback within digital simulations.
  • LiDAR: Precision laser scanning technology used for mapping and creating digital twins of physical environments.
  • AR/VR: Immersive reality tools used to visualize and navigate architectural designs in real-time.

Post exhibit, a meeting has been conducted to discuss the future scope in the CoE-UPD Meeting Room at the Department of Architecture and Regional Planning, IIT Kharagpur.
